TRAFFIC is building after temporary three-way lights were installed.
Anglia Water is carrying out work at the junction of Harwich Road and St John's Road in Colchester.
The slow changing lights are causing long tailback along St John's Road, all the way back to the Rovers Tye roundabout.
Motorists are saying it is taking as long as 40 minutes to bypass the queues.
Work is being done to connect water to the old Watts Yard site and could take four days to complete.
Drivers have been using the road as a diversion to bypass works on the roundabouts at Ipswich Road and Harwich Road.
