POLICE are appealing for information after a social club in Sible Hedingham was broken into.

Hedingham Sports and Social Club on Station Road was broken into during the early hours of Saturday July 6 by three men.

Three men were filmed on CCTV arriving at the club at 4.38am in what appears to be either a white or silver Ford 3.

After parking outside the entrance, two of the three hooded men – one in all black and the other in a navy hoody with dark jeans – can be seen forcing open a door with crowbars.

A third man holding a Sports Direct sports bag is spotted getting out of the car and following them into the building.

Cash from the fruit machines and pool table were taken.

Police were called to the scene at noon and now appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information to come forward.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We were called on Saturday with reports of a burglary at Hedingham Sports and Social Club.

“We received information cash was taken from fruit machines and a pool table before suspects left in what we believe to be a white or silver Ford 3.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Braintree police station on 101 quoting crime reference 42/107102/19 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”

Hedingham district councillor Jo Beavis said the incident was “deeply disappointing”.

She said: “I feel upset for those who manage the club because they demonstrate such commitment in providing this facility for local residents.

“I feel for the local residents who, I know, will be feeling quite sick about this break-in.

“Break-ins leave a trail not only of destruction but distrust in the local area.

“My thoughts are with those who suffered as a result of this incident and I hope that they are able to resume business as normal quite soon”.
