CHEEKY cyclists bared all as they shed their clothes in a protest over car culture.

The dozen riders stripped down in the shadow of the Jumbo water tower on Saturday afternoon.

Bemused onlookers snapped pictures and videos as the cyclists did the Full Monty.

The cyclists were then serenaded by Street Orchestra Live, who performed across the town across the weekend.

It was then down to business as the bikers saddled up and went on a ride around the town centre, Cowdray Avenue, St Andrew’s Avenue and the Hythe.

The annual “bare as you dare” event sees cyclists shed their clothes in a protest against car culture and dependency on oil.

Those taking part were not allowed to use unicycles, skateboards, rollerskates and scooters.

Organisers say the event is not illegal because you are allowed to be in the buff as along as you are not intending to cause alarm or distress.

A similar event takes place in Clacton on Saturday from 2pm.
