An air ambulance has landed at a serious incident in Heybridge this afternoon.

Residents have spotted paramedics and police around Hall Road and an air ambulance landed in a field nearby.

It is believed the incident has occurred near to the canal.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We were called to an incident at 1.32pm today (12th July) at Freshwater Crescent, Heybridge.

"We sent two ambulances, an ambulance officer, a hazardous area response team and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) to the scene to help.

"A female patient was taken to Broomfield Hospital by land ambulance for further care."
