A TRAINEE pilot took popping the question to new heights by proposing to his girlfriend as she flew with him for the first time.

Jason Moore convinced his now fiancée Brittany Muir to join him and his instructor as they flew from the Anglian Flight Centre in Earls Colne on Saturday.

But after looping around the countryside towards Clacton, Jason began a low approach back towards the runway where a banner had been left out nearby asking Brittany if she would be his wife.

After a smooth landing, Jason grabbed the ring and, thankfully, she said yes.

The pair, who live together in Mile End, Colchester, can now start planning their future together.

Jason, 22, said Brittany, 20, was completely in the dark until she saw the banner.

“Everything went to plan – I did get really nervous with everybody staring and everyone in the club was looking,” he said.

“All she knew was we were going to go flying.

“On the low approach I told her to look towards the left window and she saw the banner which had been put on the ground.

“When she saw it she suddenly burst into tears.

“Then all her friends and family were there, I dropped onto one knee and then got the ring out.

“She had never been in a small plane like that before – I think she knew something was going on but definitely not that.”

Gazette:

Software developer Jason is roughly halfway though training which could seem him eventually secure a solo flying license.

He has been having lessons on and off since he was a teenager but praised the Anglian Flight Centre for their help in organising the high-flying proposal.

“They did a fantastic job,” he said.

“Everything was absolutely spot on.”

The couple are now hoping to plan for their big day after they have saved enough cash for a deposit on a house.

Jason added: “We have been together for just over a year and a half.

“We just make a really good team.”
