ANGLESEY schoolchildren pulled on their trainers to take part in a special school sports event.
Ysgol Llandegfan pupils teamed up with gym operator and sports retailer DW Sports and Welsh Athletics Run Wales for a school run on Tuesday, July 2.
Around 160 children took part and also met Welsh athlete Iolo Hughes during the annual DW Fitness First School Run, 2019 event.
Iolo, who is originally from Llanfechell, Anglesey, is currently in college in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the USA.
The children enjoyed running with him and he also joined them for a question and answer session.
The Ysgol Llandegfan event aimed to encourage parents, children and families to get involved, whilst highlighting the importance of exercise for all the family.
The children enjoyed running activities, exercising, assembly talks and generally had fun in the sunshine.
Ysgol Llandegfan headteacher Dewy Hood said: "We like to get the children involved with community events and are always grateful to the local community for including them.
"They enjoyed the day, and meeting Iolo, and they loved running with him.
"He told them about the importance of healthy living, and as a local lad now in America he was able to encourage them and show them that it was possible for them to achieve their dreams."
