NORTH Hill in Colchester would historically have been the route for farmers to take cattle to sale.
This was back when the cattle market was at the bottom of the hill and although this is now a thing of the past many of the buildings that line it have stayed the same.
Our vintage images show St Peter’s Church at the top has stood the test of time but many of the businesses and street furniture lining the route have changed over the years.
It has also seen its share of incidents including when the army recruitment office was based there and a car outside had to be detonated for safety reasons.
