A GUITARIST from Essex is set to wow audiences before his big gig at Wembley Stadium.

Billericay blues guitarist Connor Selby (pictured) is playing at the Queens Head pub in Burnham this Saturday from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with his group, the Connor Selby Band.

Earlier in the year, the 20-year-old caught the eye of the Who’s manager, Bill Curbishley, who by chance happened to be at a London club where the band were playing.

After the gig, Bill asked Connor if he would play an opening set at Wembley Stadium on July 6 alongside Eddie Vedder, the Kaiser Chiefs and Imelda May.

Since then, Connor has been selected to enter the prestigious UK Blues Challenge and has also now secured the support slot for British blues legend John Mayall.

With his soulful vocal style and distinctive guitar playing which evokes the British blues boom of the 1960s, Connor has consistently captivated audiences and is making a name for himself.

Having already played iconic venues such as the 100 Club and Borderline, and having clocked up numerous festival appearances, Connor builds on influences as diverse as Eric Clapton, Ray Charles, and Nick Drake.

Connor also released debut album Made Up My Mind in September 2017.

Admission to the Queens Head show is free.
