STAFF at a building society dressed up as land girls and held a 1940s inspired tea party to raise funds for a war memorial.
For the 75th anniversary of D-Day, Nationwide building society has been raising money for The Normandy Memorial Trust, which is working to raise funds to build a long overdue British Normandy Memorial to record the names of each the 22,442 men who fought and died.
On Wednesday, staff at the Dovercourt branch hosted a 1940’s inspired tea party.
Holly Rand, personal banking manager, said: "We had all the staff dressing up, dancing to 1940’s music along with generous servings of homemade cakes and tea.
"With the little amount of cake that was left, it was clear to see our members and staff thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
"It was an ideal hideaway from the rain and a chance to give back to those who gave so much.
"A fun day had by all and for such a worthy cause."
