DID you know you could 'pocket dial' the police just by accidentally pressing buttons on your iPhone?

Many people may not know about the 'Emergency SOS' setting on Apple's devices.

This feature - which is turned on by default - automatically dials the emergency services when you rapidly press the side button five times.

Gazette:

Police in the Thames Valley say they receive 4,540 pocket dials per year.

And the force is giving advice to people to avoid emergency lines being clogged up with accidental dials or when young children get hold of your phone.

How to disable to the feature

  • Go to Settings > Emergency SOS > turn off Call With Side Button and Auto Call.
