I READ with great alarm your lead article about the Rev John Parker resigning his post over his prejudiced and ignorant views on transgender children (Gazette, Page 5, May 29).
It led me to consider how Jesus would respond: with disparaging remarks and reactionary responses or by listening, kindness and love?
Transgender people are 45 per cent more likely to attempt to commit suicide; they suffer from greater mental health issues and are continually stigmatised by our society.
Teaching children to understand and support their peers and to tell children who feel out of place that their community loves them seems like something Jesus would do.
