A POPULAR jousting event is returning to historic Hedingham Castle this bank holiday weekend.

The spectacular venue is hosting its action-packed Knights of Royal England jousting event across Sunday and Monday.

The medieval spectacle of jousting has plenty for visitors of the castle to see and do across the bank holiday, with fun for all the family.

The Norfolk Longbowmen will be back to demonstrate the art of archery, offering visitors the chance to have a go at the sport.

The castle’s official jester, Jonathan de Hadleigh, will be around during the event to cause mayhem and entertain the crowds.

Visitors can also be entertained by minstrels and musicians, or enjoy a ride on a donkey.

There will be a traditional maypole for dancing, as well as other traditional games, including coconut shies.

At the heart of it all will be a bustling arena with craft stalls, a range of food and a host of entertainment.

The castle grounds will be open between 10am and 5pm.

Tickets are now on sale.

Family tickets are £42. Adults tickets are £14 or £12.50 for the over-65s.

It costs £10 for children under the age of 18 and under-fives get in for free.
