RESIDENTS are being asked what they think of green spaces in the county as part of an Essex-wide survey.

Essex County Council has produced a draft Green Essex Strategy which looks at how to develop quality green infrastructure and green spaces across Essex.

The strategy wants to enhance, protect and create high-quality green infrastructure which will provide environmental, social and economic benefits. The council wants residents to get involved in a consultation.

It will include parks, woods, coastlines, estuaries and fields.

County Hall environment boss Simon Walsh said Essex was an “incredibly scenic” county.

“There are nature reserves, sites of scientific interest and country parks, not to mention the miles of roadside verges, footpaths and bridleways,” he said.

“It is important to not only protect our green spaces, but also to encourage people to use and care for them.

“By completing the consultation on the Green Essex Strategy you are playing your part by inputting into how we can ensure our green spaces are protected for future generations.”

The consultation is available online and at 12 main libraries in Essex, including Maldon.

The deadline is June 14.
