TROLLS who targeted an England football legend and his wife have received police cautions.
Dozens of text messages and phone calls were made to the business phone of Peter Shilton's wife Steph last month after the Three Lions stopper used Twitter to express pro-Brexit opinions.
The Shiltons, who live in Mersea, were shaken up the abuse and contacted Essex Police.
Now Peter, who holds a record 125 caps for his country, has confirmed officers had spoken to those at fault.
He said: "We would like to thank everyone who supported us when my wife received threats following a political tweet I sent.
"All individuals were identified and cautioned by the police."
