Shopping Centre break ins, destroyed picnic benches and car thefts are among the incidents reported throughout Maldon District towards the beginning of May.

Areas across the district including Althorne, Burnham, Great Totham, Heybridge, Maldon, Mayland, Purleigh and Tolleshunt D'Arcy have all been impacted by incidents.

Here's all the incidents, and when they were reported and where they happened at the end of April.

ALTHORNE

May 1, Northey Island: Suspect unidentified approached the victim and attempted to grab the victim’s bag from her shoulder however she has managed to pull away.

BURNHAM

May 4, Green Lane: Suspect unknown gained access to the victim’s garage via a window.

Suspect removed items from within and exited via door.

Victim also disclosed on a previous occasion suspect unknown gained entry into the victims shed and removed tools from within.

GREAT TOTHAM

May 4, Great Totham Road: Suspect unknown by means unknown stole X1 Berg Peddle cart.

HEYBRIDGE

May 3, Bentalls Shopping Centre, Colchester Road: Suspect unknown has attempted to gain entry via a window, using a tool to try and jemmy open the window.

This has not been successful and no entry gained.

May 2, Colchester Road: Suspect unidentified has removed 80-litres of cooking oil from a barrel outside of the rear door.

The suspect has placed the oil into an unknown vessel before replacing the barrel empty back outside the rear door.

MALDON

May 2, Glenway Close: Suspect unknown has approached the victims business vehicle silver Mercedes Sprinter and has stolen items from inside.

May 4, High Street: Suspect unknown removed the victim purse from her handbag on her shoulder by unknown means subsequently both debit and credit card has been used.

MAYLAND

April 30, Mill Road: Suspect unknown has stolen a parcel that had been confirmed delivered to the victim from the victim’s garden.

PURLEIGH

May 1, Howe Green Road: Suspect unknown has gained entry to the victim’s yard by unknown means.

Once inside the suspect has then attempted to damage and possibly puncture the front nearside tyre of the victim’s new Holland T7200 tractor.

There are ten cut marks on the tyre.

April 30, Howe Green Road: Suspect unknown has damaged wooden picnic benches by pulling the anchors from the ground causing damage to the cross bars and anchors.

Suspect has overturned one of the benches, pulled wooden stakes from the ground and thrown them into the stream.

TOLLESBURY

May 4, Shamrock Close: Suspect unknown has gained entry to the victims white Peugeot partner van by smashing the driver’s side window by unknown means.

Once inside a large amount of tools have been stolen.

May 4, Thurstable Road: Suspect unknown has broken the lock box on the rear of the victim’s white Ford Transit tipper van and stolen tools from within.

TOLLESHUNT D'ARCY

May 4, North Road: Suspect unknown has gained access to the victim’s vehicle a white Citroen Berlingo by means of smashing the window on the drivers side.

Nothing was taken from the vehicle.

May 4, Unknown Address: Suspects unknown gained entry through the driver’s door and have removed victim’s tools from his vehicle blue Ford Transit.
