Commuters faced long delays on the A12 yesterday evening as police closed the northbound carriageway to allow Essex Fire and Rescue to help deal with the incident.

Drivers on the southbound side were also affected.

Officers at the scene took to social media to warn motorists not to use take pictures.

PC Johnathan McDonald tweeted: "We will keep you updated. Awaiting recovery for this. Lane 1 in both directions open.

"Please do not use your phone to take pictures whilst driving. We have your index numbers and will deal with it."
