DOG owners are invited to a fun-filled day to spend with their furry friends this weekend.

Hedingham Dog Day is taking place on Saturday at the recreation ground in Sible Hedingham between 11am and 3pm.

There will be a dog show taking place on the day where pet pooches will have the chance to win rosette prizes.

During the course of the day pets can compete in a number of classes, including waggiest tail and best ball-catcher, cutest puppy and golden oldie, best rescue and best in show.

The event, organised by Selina Fitzgerald of Hedingham Hounds, will also give pets the chance to have a go at the new ‘Hoopers’ class, as well as watch a demonstration.

There will be plenty of dog-related stalls and a chance to meet local businesses.

During the day there will be a collection raising funds for Dogs for Good UK, a life-changing charity creating partnerships between people living with disabilities and specially trained assistance dogs, and Breya – a little girl from Colchester who has cancer.

If dogs aren’t your thing there is still plenty to see and do during the day.

There will be a performance by the Hedingham Singers at 11.45am, and a demonstration by Bounce Halstead at 1.45pm.

Selina said: “It’s going to be a fantastic day for all the village – not just dog owners.

“I’ve really worked hard getting some great raffle prizes.”

Posters have been put up around the area as part of a competition.

Anyone who sees a poster is urged to take a selfie with it to be entered into a prize draw.
