A MAINTENANCE worker has had to cancel jobs after having all of his tools stolen from his work van.

Carl Caffrey, of Park View Road, Deane, went for a meal at the Three Pigeons pub in Wigan Road on Friday evening.

After driving to the pub, he decided to share a bottle of wine with his girlfriend so got a taxi home, leaving his Mercedes-Benz Vito van in the car park.

When he went back to pick it up on Saturday morning, he was horrified to find that had been broken into and that around £1,200 worth of tools had been stolen.

Mr Caffrey said: “They’ve taken all of my Makita power tools, circular saws, reciprocating saws, everything.

“They’ve also taken my 13-year-old son’s North Face school coat , which cost us £120. I’m absolutely fuming.

“It’s had a massive effect on my work as well. I’ve already had to cancel a job on Tuesday because I don’t have the right tools for it.”

CCTV taken from the Three Pigeons pub at 3.55am on Saturday morning and shared to Facebook by Mr Caffrey appears to show two hooded people walking down Wigan Road carrying tool bags.

A police spokesman said: “Police were called shortly after 4pm on Saturday May 4 following a report of theft from a vehicle in Bolton.

“It is believed two offenders smashed the window of the vehicle, which was parked in a pub car park off Wigan Road, Bolton at around 4am earlier the same day, before bags of tools were stolen from inside.”
