MURDER detectives are continuing to hunt for two men thought to have been running away from where a man was stabbed to death.

Murdoch Brown, 31, was stabbed to death in the early hours of Monday morning.

Police and paramedics were called to Buffett Way, Colchester, but he sadly died.

A post mortem examination found he died as a result of hypovolemic shock, due to blood loss from stab wounds to his legs.

A second man, aged 44, was also assaulted but not stabbed. He suffered minor injuries

Det Chief Insp Daniel Stoten urged anyone in the area at the time to come forward.

He said: “We believe two men ran from Buffett Way shortly after 1am.

“If you saw anyone in the area I need to hear from you.”

One was described as white, aged in his early 20s, and 5ft 6ins tall. He was slim, unshaven, and wore a light grey Adidas tracksuit with a hooded top.

The other was described as black, aged about 17 and 5ft 6ins tall. He was very slim and wore a dark blue Adidas tracksuit with a hooded top.

Police also want to speak to anyone who has CCTV, or has a vehicle with a dashcam that was either parked in, or driving in, the Greenstead area between 10pm and 2am yesterday.

Colchester MP Will Quince echoed the thoughts of the officers and admitted knife crime was a major issues both in Essex and nationwide.

He said: “The public are their eyes and ears on the streets and any details might help to bring the perpetrator to face justice.”

“Knife crime is a major issue but we do not know what the motivation for this horrific attack is.

“My thoughts are with the victim, his family and friends.

“We have got to let the police do their job and they are alive to these issues.

Essex Police has recently secured extra funding and are working very closely with the Home Office.

“But there is a lot more we can do.”
