A road in Maldon is moving very slowly after a crash involving a bus and a van.

Police are reportedly at the scene in Fambridge Road where the van slammed into the side of the larger vehicle.

The bus was a First bus service, passing nearby Plume Academy.

The incident is believed to have happened within the last hour.

A woman was reportedly injured in the incident, suffering a head injury however it is not believed to be serious.

Debris has been scattered across the road following the incident, which police have blocked off to be cleared.

A resident who lives right next to the scene, said: "The van crashed into the side of the bus.

"The driver said they didn’t see them.

"My husband said the van just pulled out on the bus which just missed the car, two doors down from us.

"A passenger on board took a bang to the head.

"We gave her a bag of frozen fruit wrapped in a tea towel but she seems ok and there is no blood."

Essex Police have confirmed there were no arrests in the incident and the lady has been taken to hospital as a "precaution" after sustaining a bump to the head.

Mark Barrett, operations manager at First Chelmsford, said: ”One of our buses was involved in a road traffic incident at lunchtime today on Fambridge Road when a third party vehicle collided with the side of the bus.

"One passenger sustained a minor injury, all other passengers and our driver were unhurt.

"The emergency services were called and the Police attended the scene."
