STUDENTS soaked in the sights and sounds of Barcelona during a trip to Spain.

More than 40 pupils from the Witham Sixth Forms headed to the Spanish city for a four-day adventure.

The Year 12 and 13 youngsters visited the Portaventura theme park, learnt about architectural work by Antoni Gaudi and went pitch side during a tour of FC Barcelona's Camp Nou.

They also visited markets and beaches as part of the trip which was put on by the Academies Enterprise Trust which runs the Maltings and New Rickstones academies where Witham Sixth Forms is based.

Pastoral coordinator Tracey Howard said: "Our students were an absolute credit to our sixth form.

"They enjoyed the sights and sounds of the beautiful city of Barcelona, taking in its architecture and traditional Spanish culture.

"We are already planning for the next sixth form trip for 2020."
