A man has died and a second man is believed to have been injured following an incident in Colchester.

Emergency services were called to Buffett Way, in Greenstead, shortly before 1.10am today to reports a man aged in his 30s had been stabbed.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics he passed away at the scene.

Police are treating it as a murder investigation.

A second man was initially thought to be seriously hurt. He has since been located.

Detective Superintendent Stephen Jennings, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said:“We are continuing our enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident, and we’d like to speak to anyone who was in the Buffett Way area in the early hours of this morning and saw what happened or anything suspicious.

“We’re also keen to speak to anyone with CCTV, dash cam or mobile phone footage.”
