A MAN has been fined more than £500 after admitting dumping a pile of waste in Ridgewell last April.
Charles Smith, 30, of Cambridge, admitted flytipping a number of items, including fence panels, cardboard and chairs, in a by-way off Stambourne Road on April 11, 2018.
Following an investigation by Braintree Council, enforcement team evidence pointed to Smith, who claimed he had paid an unknown man to remove the waste.
This case was heard at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court last Thursday.
Smith, of Wellbrook Way, Girton, was fined £533.
He was also ordered to pay £842 costs and a £53 victim surcharge.
A spokesman for Braintree Council said: “We will continue to crack down on the issue and take legal action.”
The spokesman added: “If you come across flytipping, report it to us via our website at braintree.gov.uk/flytipping.”
