AN award-winning vineyard’s wine will tickle the tastebuds of celebs and F1 legends as they watch the Monaco Grand Prix from the deck of a multi-million pound luxury super yacht later this month.

Toppesfield Vineyard has teamed up with Corner Fridge Company to supply 60 bottles of its Bacchus and Pinot Grigio rosé wines for harbourside spectators of the Grand Prix.

Spectators will sip on the Essex wines – which usually sell for £13.95 a bottle – from a 47-metre tri-deck super yacht, offering stunning views of live action as the cars race through the famous harbour section of the Monaco street circuit.

The two companies crossed paths at a trade fair and Corner Fridge Company bosses bought some of the local vineyard’s produce.

Jane Moore, who runs the vineyard with husband Peter, said: “We had a phone call a couple of weeks ago from the Corner Fridge Company.

“We had met two or three years ago at a trade fair and they liked our wine and said they still had a bottle.

“When they were planning what to put in the fridges for the Grand Prix they thought they would like to have a good quality award-winning English wine.”

Jane and Peter have been making wine in Toppesfield since 2012 and have scooped a number of awards.

They are thrilled by the opportunity to take their English wines to Monaco.

Jane said: “It’s very exciting to have a English award-winning wine being served at such a prestigious international event.

“It’s a good opportunity for English wine to be tasted and consumed.

“Lots of these people are used to drinking very good wine so to have our wine selected is just fantastic for the East Anglian region.”

East Anglia has become well respected in the English wine-making industry over recent years.

Jane added: “We have become well respected and recognised as a leading market for high quality Bacchus wine. It grows well in East Anglia due to the soil and the dry climate.”

In June 2018 Toppesfield Vineyard was awarded East Anglia’s Wine of the Year award for the second time and a gold medal for the 2017 Bacchus Reserve.

Jane added: “We believe winning wine of the year for two of the three vintages produced to date demonstrates the consistently high quality of our grapes.

“We have been told our attention to detail in the vineyard has resulted in Toppesfield being a model vineyard.”

The Monaco Grand Prix is on Sunday, May 26.
