A MAN with cerebral palsy is making a final attempt to appeal for other disabled people to join him in a race.
Toby Wheeler has always wanted to race and a few years ago he started walking with a specialised walking frame.
He and his care team got the ball rolling in setting up his own event - the Wheeler Way Walk.
The walk is a 400 metre race at the new sports arena at Essex University on Saturday.
However Toby, 24, from Stanway, is struggling to find participants. The race is in aid of Team Angus, a charity set up to support tot Angus Grocott who also has cerebral palsy.
Toby’s carer, Harriett Renolds, said: “He is looking for people who would have a similar sense of achievement from this race.”
“We’d ideally like two races with twenty participants in each.”
Participants would be raising money for Angus who was starved of oxygen at birth leading to the most severe form of Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy.
Anyone interested in taking part should email wheelerwaywalk@gmail.com.
