FRESH images have been revealed which show how a controversial new housing estate of 225 homes could look.

As well as the homes, the plans for the land off Braintree Road, Cressing, include providing land to expand Cressing Primary School and more funding for Silver End Surgery.

Braintree Council’s planning committee gave the homes the go-ahead last February, despite strong opposition from residents.

Now developer Countryside Properties, which is behind the plans, has submitted a reserved matters application to the council containing details about the layout and design of the new site.

The plans show there will be 36 one and two-bedroom flats in total, while the remaining 189 homes will be made up of two, three, four and five-bedroom family homes.

The plans also reveal that a new roundabout is set to be built on Braintree Road to provide access to the development.

One objection submitted to the council over the latest application states: “Proposing to put a roundabout on the B1018 close to the primary school will create congestion and will increase the amount of noxious fumes to be inhaled by the children and waiting parents.

“Also with this creating congestion, cars will then use Mill Lane as a rat-run increasing the likelihood of accidents.

‘Mill Lane was supposed to have a protected status but has already been ruined by building traffic on the Bellway development.”

Another developer, Bellway, is currently building 118 homes on an adjoining piece of land.
