A FILM club is hosting a social evening and its annual general meeting next week.

Maldon Film Club will be meeting at the town hall in Market Hill to watch Film Stars Don’t Die In Liverpool next Wednesday.

Set in the 1970s and based on the memoirs of Liverpudlian Peter Turner, Film Stars Don’t Die In Liverpool tells of his love story with ageing Hollywood star Gloria Grahame.

What starts as a vibrant affair between a legendary femme fatale and her young lover quickly grows into a deeper relationship with Turner being the person Gloria turns to for comfort when faced with circumstances beyond her control.

The film was nominated for three Baftas last year and is directed by Paul McGuigan.

Doors will open at 7pm for the second social evening and annual general meeting before the film starts at 8pm.

There are two more films this season and guests can attend for £3 per film.
