A fast food restaurant has hit out after two of its employees were attacked by a group of men.

McDonald's says it is continuing to offer support to the workers who were caught up in Saturday's altercation at its restaurant in Galleys Corner, Braintree.

A 23-year-old male employee from Halstead was punched to the ground after asking a group of men not to drink alcohol in the restaurant.

The attackers then stamped on the worker's head and knocked him unconscious.

Another male employee, aged 20, was also attacked and punched in the head.

Following the incident, McDonald's has hit out at the attackers and says it will work with police to catch those responsible.

A spokesman said: “The safety and security of our people and customers is our absolute priority, and it is extremely disappointing to see this sort of behaviour in the restaurant.

“We will be offering our full support to our colleagues involved in this incident and would like to recognise their professionalism in the face of adversity.

“We do not tolerate any form of violence or abuse and will be cooperating fully with the police investigation.”

Police are continuing to appeal for information about the incident, which occurred sometime around 2.40am.

Officers want to speak to two men (pictured below) in connection with the assault.
