MEDIEVAL fun is set to return to Hedingham Castle, as jousting comes to the iconic grounds.

The astounding Knights of Middle England are returning to the Norman keep for a weekend of stunts and chivalry on Easter Sunday and Monday.

The action-packed event has been popular for many years and is now bringing a number of new attractions.

Among them, visitors will have the chance to try their hand at jousting on the UK’s only rolling jousting horse – which has been dubbed Henry Hotspur.

A spokesman for the castle said: “Henry is a full-sized rolling horse that thunders down the list, carrying the rider past authentic jousting practice targets.

“From very young riders with mum or dad sitting behind, to adults riding solo, Henry Hotspur can carry an adult in full medieval armour, so come and try your hand.”

As well as jousting, visitors can also have a go at archery with the Norfolk Longbowmen.

There will be music inspired by the medieval period, maypole dancing and the popular birds of prey attraction – so there is plenty to keep everyone entertained over the weekend.

Last year hundreds of people flocked to the event, and this year is expected to be no different.

An awesome display of saddle falls, drags and rearing horses awaits visitors over the Easter weekend.

The Easter Joust will be taking place on Sunday and Monday between 10am and 5pm.

Family tickets are £42. Adult tickets cost £14 and admission for under-18s is £10.

Over-65 tickets are £12.50 and under-fives go free. For more details, visit www.hedinghamcastle.co.uk.
