SCHOOL holiday visitors to Colchester Zoo were delayed after a crash at a notorious junction.

The smash on Thursday morning at the junction of Warren Lane and Maldon Road, Stanway, meant traffic had to be diverted around the popular tourist attraction.

Despite the damage to the car involved, the East of England Ambulance Service said there was no need for them to attend.

In January, it was revealed Essex Police were planning additional focus and enforcement in a bid to cut the number of crashes.

Critics have previously slammed the road layout in the area which has been a blackspot for accidents for several years.

A project to create a dedicated right turn lane into the zoo has been welcomed.
