A DETECTIVE convicted of mishandling child abuse investigations is facing the sack.
Essex Police have arranged a special case hearing next Friday where Det Con Sharon Patterson, 49, is alleged to have breached the standards of professional behaviour in the areas of discreditable conduct.
Patterson - along with her former colleague Lee Pollard - were convicted of misconduct following a trial at the Old Bailey relating to their conduct when they worked at the Colchester-based North Child Abuse Investigation Team between 2011 and 2014.
She has been suspended while under investigation and will likely be fired at the upcoming hearing.
Pollard, 47, has already been sacked from the force for unrelated reasons.
The pair, of Littlefield Road, Colchester, will be sentenced back at the Old Bailey next month.
