Whether your a social media influencer, a day tripper or you call Colchester home no doubt you've found plenty of places to get a top Instagram picture.

Visit Colchester has put together a list of ten places you could get a snap at.

1. St Botolph's Priory

St Botolph's is a Norman Priory which was badly damaged during the English Civil War.

Today you can walk among the historic archways and columns.

2. Colchester Castle

Colchester Castle is probably the town's most obvious Instagram spot. Visit Colchester says the most popular angle is from the south east corner.

3. St John's Abbeygate

The abbeygate is situated just a couple of minutes walk outside the town centre. It was once the gateway to a much larger Abbey.

4. Firstsite

Possibly not an obvious Instagram spot due to how modern it is.

5. Trinity Street

Colchester's most picture-perfect shopping street is without a doubt Trinity Street in the heart of the town.

Timber-framed coffee shops, Tymperleys Tearoom with its secret garden, the historic Trinity Church tower, and perfectly framed views of the Victoria Tower on Colchester's Town Hall.

6. Jumbo Water Tower

Watching over the town centre Jumbo, as it is affectionately known, can be seen from far and wide.

The tower is instantly recognisable in the skyline.

7. The Dutch Quarter

The Dutch Quarter boasts colourful cottages, historic houses, and winding streets. Highlights include impressive Tudor houses, photogenic churches, a Roman theatre and the birthplace of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

8. Castle Park

From sculptured flower gardens to swan pedalos you'll find plenty of places to grab a snap.

9. Riverside Cottages

Situated next to an otherwise busy road, these small tudor residential homes provide an oasis of calm and are instantly photogenic.

10. The Balkerne Gate

The Balkerne Gate is arguably the most photogenic part of Colchester's Roman Wall.
