Firefighters had to cut two people out of a car following a horror crash.
Witnesses said a crash has taken place at the A134 Westway where it is believed a car has crashed into a ditch.
A pair of fire crews from Colchester and another from Wivenhoe attended the incident, to find two people were trapped inside a vehicle.
A spokesman said: "Crews were called to a road traffic collision involving two vehicles.
"On arrival firefighters reported that two people were trapped in one of the vehicles.
"Firefighters released the casualties by 2.25pm and left them in the care of the Ambulance Service."
Traffic was at a complete standstill following the crash.
Essex Traffic Control tweeted that traffic has since begun to flow regularly again.
