A SCHOOL is celebrating the opening of its new £10,000 play area.

The adventure playground complete with climbing wall was provided to Langenhoe Community Primary School and Pre-School by National Lottery funding.

Headteacher Sarah Stevenson said the area was designed to be used by all its children who are coming up to age three, through to age 11.

She added: "One of the things we felt they needed to develop was their growth motor skills and upper body strength, so that's why we have got a climbing wall so children learn to develop those skills.

"And we want children to be able to calculate their own risks to make safe choices, for example, what happens if you climb too high or run too fast.

"We have tried to put equipment in that develops that."

As part of the funding a new pathway for children to ride bicycles on will be added to the site shortly.
