A cache of weapons has been recovered by police.
Officers were called to Colchester town centre yesterday after reports of the weapons.
Police arrived and recovered seven items which included a hammer, knife, a meat cleaver and scissors.
A message on the Essex Police - Colchester Facebook page said: "Officers were called to a town centre location yesterday following reports of a 'weapons cache' this was what was recovered.
"Big thank you to those who called this in, you know who you are.
"It is only with the support and help of the whole community that we can reduce knife crime and all serious violence.
"If you know someone who habitually carries a knife please tell us either online or via tel 101 or using Crime-Stoppers, you may just save a life."
