The members of the Labour party have come out to slam the government.

After the Government lost a key vote to maintain control of Brexit discussions in Parliament, labour members in Hertsfordshire have rallied to attack the Tories.

Chris Ostrowski, the Labour Parliamentary Candidate for Watford, said: “The dysfunctional Tory government has completely lost control.

“Parliament has stepped in to look for solutions to find a way out of the total mess Theresa May has made of Brexit.”

Last night at 10pm Watford’s MP Richard Harrington resigned from his position as Business Minister and voted against the Government which has led to an embarrassing defeat for Theresa May's Government.

Mr Ostrowski added: “Even Watford’s Tory MP finally summoned the will and resigned from the Government to vote against her.

“Mr Harrington is right to want to stop ‘No Deal’ Brexit, which would be a disaster.

"but it’s deeply hypocritical for him to claim that Watford is his priority when he has wholeheartedly backed Theresa May’s bad deal and every callous Tory budget cut which makes life more difficult for struggling families here.”

East of England Labour MEP Alex Mayer also took the opputunity to criticise the government.

She said: “We are currently stuck so maybe these indicative votes will provide a glimmer of hope and I look forward to seeing what levels of support there may be for different options.

“However what we need to avoid are unrealistic options whereby the EU will politely say no thank you, and we will be back to square one of leaving with the PM’s discredited deal or no deal in a fortnight.

“The country is saddled with a Prime Minister who has made all the wrong calls: creating impossible red lines, annoying our European allies, pitting the public against parliament, and at every single turn, prioritising the internal squabbling of the Tory Party, over the future of our country.

“She ran down the clock, and left us staring into the abyss.”
