Detectives investigating an aggravated burglary in Southend yesterday evening, Friday, March 22 are appealing for information.
Officers were called to an address on Pleasant Road around 7pm with reports that a man had forced entry into the home of a man, aged in his 70s.
The man grabbed the victim and hit him with a hammer, before stealing money and a mobile phone.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life changing injuries.
Police would like to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time and saw any suspicious behaviour.
