CHILDREN have pulled up the gangplank on a new pirate play ship which has docked in their playground.
Langham Primary School’s new pirate ship was long-awaited.
Surrounded by an all-weather surface, the children were thrilled with the latest addition to their playground.
The shipwreck has allowed them much-needed extra space for expelling their energy, and it is a new opportunity for imaginative role play.
The impressive new activity structure replaces a well-worn trim trail, which had seen better days.
It took two years of hard fundraising by the Parent Teacher Association team known as the FOLS - with proceeds from two Palmer and Partners Langham 10km runs going towards the structure.
Andrew MacDonald, headteacher, said: “What a great investment. We hope the ship will be here for many years to come.
“Our children and all those joining Langham Primary School in the future will spend many a happy hour making use of this superb piece of play equipment, a fun way to exercise.”
The teachers have also taken interest in the ship.
The students in Year 6 got to name the ship, which is now known as Ship Shrek, and with the final installation of a skull and crossbones flag, she is officially open for business.
