CAN Can dancers surprised fundraisers and danced the night away to help youngsters with cancer.

Thousands of pounds were raised for the Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation at its fifth Feather Ball at Stoke-by-Nayland Golf and Country Club.

Tom was diagnosed with an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer aged just 18 but was adamant he wanted to help others in a similar situation - raising more than £170,000 before he sadly died in October 2013 - leaving strict instructions for his family to "crack on"

His parents Nikki and Richard did exactly that, setting up the Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation on Tom's 20th birthday in 2014.

The theme of this year's event, only revealed to guests on the night, was Moulin Rouge, complete with the Can Can dancers, live band the Beavers, a casino and a caricaturist.

There were even holidays and nights out to be won at a silent auction which helped boost the fundraiser's total, still being counted up.

Mrs Bowdidge added: “Every year we see new faces and old friends at the Feather Ball.

"Our supporters just keep growing and we cannot thank them enough. Without them none of this would be possible.

“We always like to give Tom a laugh and I’m sure this year would have been no different as he watched us dancing the Can Can.”
