A GROUP of travellers were asked to leave a football stadium after they pitched up in the car park over the weekend.

The group, believed to be the same French travellers who were in Leisure World car park on Friday, appeared at the Jobserve Community Stadium on Saturday.

The stadium, which is home to Colchester United, was visited by police that morning.

PC Andy Long Tweeted a photo saying: "Dealing with a new unauthorised encampment at #ColchesterUtd stadium.

"The car park needs to be used in the morning so Section 61 notices will be issued to leave by then."

The stadium confirmed the travellers had moved on by this morning.
