A MAN has been banned from driving and given a curfew after he was pulled over by police for drug driving.
Kevin Rae, 21, of Egret Crescent, Colchester, was driving along Cowdray Avenue in Colchester on September 9 at 3.30am when police spotted him weaving across the road.
Colchester Magistrates’ Court heard he was lethargic and had blood shot eyes when they pulled him over in Egret Crescent.
A small amount of cannabis was found in the car and he was arrested.
Rae, who is training to be a kitchen fitter, admitted driving under the influence of cocaine, driving under the influence of Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol, possessing cannabis and possessing cocaine.
The court heard he had already been stopped by police for drug driving earlier in the year.
However, the September offence occurred before he was sentenced at court and disqualified from driving.
Magistrates were told Rae had not taken the first incident “seriously enough” but now understood the seriousness of the offence.
He said he did not want to be back before the court again and had taken to staying away from his friends to not be tempted by drugs.
Magistrates banned Rae from driving for 22 months.
The also ordered him to wear an electronic tag and comply with a curfew from 9pm to 5am for three months.
In addition, Rae was ordered to pay £105 costs and £85 victim surcharge.
The drugs and paraphernalia was ordered to be destroyed.
