An inquest into the death of a woman who died after falling from a care home balcony has been opened.
Essex Coroners Court heard June Knight, 79, was found unresponsive on December 10 at Langley Lodge Care Home, Imperial Avenue, Westcliff.
The inquest heard a post-mortem examination found she died after suffering head injuries.
Her son, Robert Knight, 52, of the Fairway, Leigh, has beeen charged with her murder.
Caroline Beasley-Murray, senior coroner, said the coroners court was awaiting results of neuropathology tests.
She adjourned the hearing and did not set a new date for the hearing.
The inquest will be subject to ongoing criminal proceedings.
