GREGGS has confirmed it will open its fourth Colchester shop next month.
The branch in Peartree Road Retail Park, Stanway, will be open for business "in early February," a company spokesman said.
Twelve jobs will be created at the bakery but are not yet showing up on Greggs' recruitment website.
When the chain launches, it will join other retail giants such as Domino’s Pizza, Poundstretcher and the East of England Co-Op.
Paul Dundas, Conservative Stanway councillor, said: "I'm pleased to see further investment with more jobs created in Stanway and a new choice for the increasing population.
"The rapid expansion of Stanway is challenging for everyone. The increase in houses must be balanced by jobs, shops, facilities, transport and services so new businesses are always welcome.
"I look forward to a sausage roll in February."
