POLICE have closed a case where a woman alleged she was the victim of racial abuse at a train station.

British Transport Police (BTP) launched the probe after a woman from Cambridge said a member of Greater Anglia staff at Colchester North Station refused her entry even though she had a valid ticket.

She then claimed as the incident escalated the staff member used a racist term.

The complainant raised the issue on Twitter and both the BTP and Greater Anglia launched investigations into what has happened.

However the police investigation has now been closed as there is a lack of evidence to pursue it any further.

The person accused has always denied any wrong doing.

The alleged incident dates back to November 2.
