TEABAGS were given out to about 500 commuters who had stopped to vent their worries on Blue Monday.
Greater Anglia worked with the Samaritans and rail pastors to host a ‘Brew Monday’ event, which encouraged people to talk about their problems over a cup of tea, instead of bottling them up.
Rail pastor Phil Norton, who was at Colchester North station, said: “We were giving out free tea bags and cards to encourage everyone to talk more when we feel low or are struggling with things in life.
“Samaritans were there from 6am until 10am and we all gave out about 500 tea bags during conversations.
“It’s great to be able to bring a bit of happiness and a smile on this winter’s day.”
‘Blue Monday’, the third Monday in January, is dubbed the most difficult day of the year.
