THE family of a little boy who almost died because of serious kidney problem need to raise thousands of pounds to get him specialist treatment.

Harrysson Wright, five, suffers from, cerebral palsy, autism and a medical condition which affects his bladder and kidneys.

His family, of Glebe Road, Heybridge, are hoping to raise £2,000 to get private treatment at Portland Hospital for Women and Children.

In December Harrysson nearly lost his life after his kidney problems caused by continual urine infections.

Mum of four Karly Rogers, 31, said: “He’s in and out of hospital every other week. He almost didn’t make it to Christmas. I’m pretty much his carer 24 hours a day.

“In November, he had to go in for a deflux procedure to stop a urine infection he had.

“He had 42 infections in a year and when he started complaining about pain, we took him to Great Ormond Street and they said his kidney was so swollen that it was about to rupture.

“The colostomy bag saved his life and they let us go home for Christmas.

“He enjoyed the festive period so it was quite nice but we were back up to the hospital after a few days.

“Portland Hospital have tests they can do so we want that second opinion.

“It’s terrible, he has to take four types of painkillers just to get to school. He’s had a really hard life.

“As a family we are all suffering with me or his dad with him in hospital, separated from his brother and sisters.

“When he’s home, he usually suffers from another infection.”

Karly said no matter what was thrown at Harrysson he always battles on with a smile.

“He has a brave smile on his face, but it breaks my heart watching him battle every day or miss school because he is too poorly - it’s so sad,” she said.

“As his mum I’m desperate for him to get the diagnosis and treatment he needs to begin to live his life. We need answers.”

The family hopes to take Harrysson for medical tests and find a long-term solution.

Karly also hopes to raise more money by organising a non-uniform day at his school and a fun run.
