Atila, one of the UK’s leading jazz vocalists, provided a hugely entertaining evening for members and guests of Clacton Arts and Lits by performing his take on the life and music of one of the defining voices of the 20th century.

Atila, together with Tom Farmer (bass), Gabriel Latchin (piano), Colin Oxley (guitar) and Steve Brown (drums), recreated The Nat King Cole Story, originally performed at London’s Hippodrome.

Using archived newsreels, the audience were introduced to Nat King Cole’s life and music. The projected clips then blending seamlessly into the group’s own renditions of such classics as When I Fall in Love, Mona Lisa and Unforgettable.

Atila’s vocals were complemented by the band with many fine individual solos appreciated by a packed Princes Theatre. This was a unique evening celebrating one of music’s all-time greats.
