Entrepreneurs looking to start their own business in Tendring are being encouraged to attend a one-day course on beginning your own firm.

Colbea, one of the area’s leading enterprise agencies, is running a workshop taking participants through a step-by-step guide on the process of setting up and structuring your own business, from managing finances and marketing to exploring the business idea and drawing up an action plan.

Tendring Council’s regeneration team is working closely with Colbea to provide support to small, medium and start-up enterprises.

Zoe Fairley, Tendring Council’s cabinet member for investment, is encouraging Tendring entrepreneurs to take part.

She said: “As part of our Tendring4Growth initiative we are keen to support up-and-coming businesses in our district.

“We are looking to work with Colbea this year to help us achieve our ambition of growing the Tendring economy, and if you are looking at starting up your own business in 2019 then this workshop is a great place to start.

“Although Tendring has a better than average success rate for start-up businesses, it is by no means an easy feat and this workshop will help potential business owners go into the process with a much better understanding of the realities involved.”

Colbea chief executive Ashleigh Seymour-Rutherford, added: “Starting your own business can be one of the most daunting experiences an individual can undertake and if you don’t seek the right support in the early stages, your dream of entrepreneurship can fail even before it has had a chance to take form.

“We want to ensure that budding entrepreneurs turn every opportunity into a success.”

The workshop costs £5 and takes place at the Colbea centre in George Williams Way, Colchester, from 9.30am to 4pm on Tuesday, January 29.
