A SHOPPER has complained benches were pushed up against the front doors of an Asda supermarket, endangering shoppers’ safety.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service visited the store off Turner Road in Colchester following reports benches and trolleys were being used to barricade the doors shut on Sunday evening.
Asda said it was to stop customers coming in at closing time.
A spokesperson said it was an isolated incident and usually a store colleague is stationed at the entrance to inform customers when the store is closing.
