THE fate of six talented photographers are in your hands as they battle to be crowned the winner of the Essex Wildlife Trust's annual competition.

After deciding the final category winners, the trust is now calling on the public to vote for their favourite photographer.

The one with the most votes will also receive a £200 prize.

Lily Chambers, of Essex Wildlife Trust, said: “The competition has yet again been a wonderful showcase of the magnificent breadth of wildlife and wild places available to us in Essex.

"We would like to thank everyone who entered.”

Colchester photographers Andrew Smith and Dave Watts are in the running for a skilful image of a Leafcutter Bee mid-flight and scenic shot of Ray Island.

Former Young Photographer category winner Max Martin, of Kirby Cross, is back to compete with a close-up of an Adder snake.

More than 100 people across the county entered this year's competition, sponsored by Adult Community Learning, under one of six categories including a wildlife motion picture, young blood and nature's funny side.

A panel of judges including the trust's chief executive officer Andrew Impey, two employees and acclaimed wildlife photographer Russell Savory, decided on each category winner.

Voting closes at the end of January 2019 and the winner will be announced shortly after.
